"DIEGO" Embroidered Patchwork Shirt

散りばめられた刺繍がパッチワーク状に散りばめられた「DIEGO」は、サンディエゴの蚤の市で出会ったメキシカンディーラーをイメージした。

 

アメリカ生活の中で足繁く各所の蚤の市を訪れた。
様々な人種が入り乱れ、夜明け前の早朝から始まるフリーマーケットは胸を高鳴らせたものだ。

 

So-Cal（南カリフォルニアの愛称）は南米とも距離が近く、ヒスパニックのカルチャーが入り乱れた土地だった。

少し陽気でおちゃめなディーラーが着るボロボロな刺繍シャツをイメージした一着。
今まで多用していた繊細な表情の刺繍ではなく、あえて単調で荒めのモチーフで刺繍を仕上げた。

 

開襟仕様のシャツは毛足のあるカットジャガード生地を切り替えに配しアクセントに。
ふくらみのあるソフトな肌触りのローン生地と組み合わせた。

DIEGO,” with its patchwork of scattered embroidery, was inspired by a Mexican dealer he met at a flea market in San Diego.

 

In my life in the U.S., I visited flea markets in various places frequently.
The flea markets, where people of all races mingle and flea markets begin in the wee hours before dawn, make my heart pound.

 

So-Cal (a nickname for Southern California) is close to South America and is a land of mixed Hispanic cultures.

This piece was inspired by the tattered embroidered shirts worn by slightly jovial and mischievous dealers.
Instead of the delicate embroidery used in the past, the embroidery motifs are monotonous and rough.

 

The open-collared shirt is accented with a cut Jacquard fabric with a fur pile.
It is combined with a soft and puffy loan fabric.
